How to Choose a Healthy Sunscreen: Today, more people than ever before are aware of the importance of protecting their skin from the harmful UVA and UVB rays emitted by the sun. Since both types of rays are capable of causing skin damage, including premature signs of aging and skin cancer, health conscious people are increasingly turning to sunscreens to shield themselves from these harmful rays. However, very few people are aware of the ingredients that are used in chemically-based products and their potential to irritate the skin or cause other adverse health effects. Fortunately, there are a number of organic skin care options that may provide better results without the risks associated with chemical sunscreens.
Products that are not labeled organic tend to contain numerous ingredients, such as parabens, octisalate, oxybenzone, and avobenzone, to preserve their shelf lives and improve their textures. These ingredients can be synthesized at low costs, and as a result, are used in the majority of the sun care products that are currently on the market. Since these ingredients are easily absorbed into the skin and the bloodstream, they have the potential to cause harm by disrupting a person's hormonal balance, damaging DNA, causing skin irritation and increasing the skin's sensitivity to the sun.
Many organic sun care products avoid using harmful chemicals in their formulations and use minerals, such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, instead. Both zinc oxide and titanium oxide are mineral formulations that have been proven to protect the skin against UVA and UVB rays, with zinc oxide providing more protection than titanium oxide.

Scabies Treatment Options
Scabies Treatment Options: The goal for treating scabies is to kill the mites and treat anyone who has been in close proximity to the person infected, as well as to prevent scabies from reoccurring
Medical Treatment
Many dermatologists prescribe lotions or creams for scabies. These include peremethrin, lindane and sulfur. If your doctor prescribes a medicinal treatment for scabies, be sure to follow directions explicitly. The lotion should be applied from head to toe with a clean cloth and left on the skin for eight hours A shower should then be taken to wash the lotion off. Seven days later, a second application is necessary and should be applied following the same directions as described above.
Any person who contacts Norwegian scabies or who has HIV should be prescribed ivermectin, which is an oral medication.
Recommendations
If you or someone in your family has been infected with scabies, be sure to wash all bedding clothes and towels in hot water. Dry in the clothes dryer to kill mites. It isn't necessary to treat coats, floors, furniture or carpeting and rugs.
Treatment of Family Members
If you or someone that lives in the same household have been infected with scabies, you should be certain everyone is treated for scabies collectively. Sexual partners will also need treatment. This will prevent further infestation.
Itching
All prescribed treatments for scabies are highly successful. However, itching can continue for up to three weeks This doesn't mean the scabies are still present. To sooth itching take over-the-counter antihistamines and gently rub on calamine lotion. Another option is to take a colloidal oatmeal bath.
Home Remedies
There are no proven home remedies for scabies, although all-natural Dermisil is an effective alternative treatment. Scabie Nodules
Nodules are often found on the penis and scrotum. These should disappear within 14 days. If not, see a health care professional who can inject them with steroids
Immunity
Successful treatment of a scabies infestation doesn't make a person immune. A new infestation takes four to six weeks to appear. A re-infestation will occur within a week.

Two Things You Can Do to Prevent Acne
Two Things You Can Do to Prevent Acne: As a teenager or young adult you often have a great many social pressures that can complicate both your life and your relationships This is the period in your life when you are most likely to be insecure about your appearance. A poor complexion due to acne and other skin problems is the last thing you need at this time, but unfortunately this is also the time in your life when these issues are most likely to happen. So how do you minimize the possibility of these skin problems occurring?
1. Keeping your skin clean of dirt, dead cells, excessive body oils, and other pollutants is the first step in reducing the risk of acne. These contaminants can clog your pores, and introduce germs that can fester and cause pimples. They will also cause sweat to build up on your skin, which provides a ripe environment for bacteria to breed. To prevent this, wash your body and face regularly using a non-irritating soap. Take a shower or bath after engaging in strenuous and sweaty exercise, or at least wash your face thoroughly. You may also want to look at using skin cleansers; however, avoid cleansers that dry out your skin, as this can make your skin more prone to acne. Also avoid any cleansers that use harsh chemicals, as these can damage your skin and potentially cause more problems than they cure. Keeping your skin clean and maintaining good personal hygiene will prevent germs from gaining a foothold in your skin.
2. Exercise regularly, and keep yourself fit and healthy. This will ensure that your immune system is running at its optimum level, and will reduce the excessive build-up of fatty tissues and oils in your skin and body. As stated above, wash your skin after engaging in any sweaty exercise. Drink plenty of water during exercise to prevent dehydration, and to allow your body to flush out its waste products.
